North Salem, and where we are.
North Salem is the northeastern corner of Westchester County, on the Route 22 corridor, about eleven road miles south of us. It is rural, with large lots and a long horse-country tradition. Our showroom is north on Route 22 in Patterson, at 3227 NY-22.
Old houses, barns, and kitchens that were added rather than designed.
North Salem is one of the least dense towns in Westchester. The properties are large, the houses are often old, and outbuildings are common. There is very little commercial development, which means anyone here is already used to driving for anything specialised. A cabinet showroom is no different.
At the kitchen level that means a few specific things. The genuinely old houses tend to have kitchens that were added onto the building at some point rather than designed as part of it, and the rooms show it — settled floors, walls that lean, corners that are anything but square. Many properties also have barns or guest houses with their own small kitchens, and those are their own smaller orders. And because the lots are large and the town is quiet, the kitchens people want are often the ones that look like they have always been there rather than the ones that announce themselves.
