Rustic and Farmhouse Kitchen Cabinets
Knotty woods, distressed finishes, open shelving. The look that says someone actually cooks here. Cabinets start at $3,000.
Where this fits around here.
This is farm country and lake country. There are real farmhouses still standing, barns that have been converted into homes, lake houses built for the season, and a fair number of newer builds that want to read older than they are. Both are legitimate.
A kitchen that matches a 1900 farmhouse and a kitchen that gives a new build some age are the same family of cabinetry, and we sell to both. If your house has wood, stone, a view, or a story, this is usually where the conversation starts.
Benefits of Rustic & Farmhouse Cabinetry Designs
Warmth & Comfort
Rustic & farmhouse cabinetry designs create a cozy and inviting atmosphere in any space, evoking the warmth and character of country living.
Natural Beauty
Inspired by the beauty of nature, rustic cabinetry designs feature natural materials such as knotty woods, distressed finishes, and wrought iron hardware.
Versatility
Highly versatile layouts allow for creative customization whether you prefer a traditional farmhouse look or a modern rustic aesthetic.
Timeless Appeal
With enduring charm and character, rustic cabinetry adds a sense of history and warmth to your home that remains stylish for years to come.
Rustic and farmhouse are not the same decision.
Farmhouse is clean and painted: Shaker doors, white or sage, open shelving, an apron-front sink, a kitchen that looks like it gets used. Rustic is the material showing: knotty alder, hickory, oak, visible grain, hand-applied finishes, a kitchen that looks like it has been there.
Farmhouse is a finish and a layout choice; rustic is a wood and a texture choice. You can do one without the other, and most people do. A painted Shaker kitchen with open shelving is farmhouse. A knotty alder kitchen with wire-brushed doors is rustic.

What it looks like.
Knotty woods with the grain visible. Wire-brushed and distressed finishes, where the surface is textured on purpose. Beadboard panels on the backs of islands or on the ends. Open shelves instead of uppers, or alongside them. Furniture-style islands that look like a separate table. Exposed hinges in iron or bronze.
The honest warning.
Distressed and knotty finishes vary from piece to piece, on purpose. The knots, the color shifts, the wire-brushed texture — none of it is uniform, and that is the point of it. It is also why some people hate it once it is installed, because what looked characterful in a single sample can read as uneven across a whole wall.
The fix is simple: look at a full display, not one sample. Stand back and look at a whole run on our Patterson showroom floor before you decide.
What it costs.
Cabinets start at $3,000. Rustic and farmhouse cost what the door and the finish cost. A painted Shaker in a standard color sits near the floor; knotty alder or hickory with a hand-applied finish sits higher.
We deliver within 25 miles, about two weeks from order. You hire your own installer, so the cabinet price stays clear and separate from labor.
