Kitchen Cabinets in Yorktown Heights, New York
Post-war ranches, splits and raised ranches — closed kitchens built to a handful of plans — and a showroom about twenty road miles away where you can see what changes them.
Yorktown Heights, and where we are.
Yorktown Heights is in northern Westchester, about twenty road miles southwest of us. Our showroom is on Route 22 in Patterson, at 3227 NY-22.
Post-war housing, and a small number of original kitchens.
Yorktown is substantially post-war suburban housing — ranches, splits, raised ranches and colonials built across a few decades. That is a specific and useful fact for a cabinet company, because those houses share a small number of original kitchen layouts, almost all of them closed off from the rest of the house. The same galley or L-shape, the same soffit over the uppers, the same awkward corner, several hundred times over.
What that means practically is that we have probably seen your layout before. The opportunity in these kitchens is almost always storage and finish rather than layout — the room is what it is, and the gains are inside the cabinet and up the wall. The honest part is also what we cannot do: opening a wall is construction, and we do not do construction. What cabinetry can do is change how the existing room works.
The closed kitchen, and what cabinets can and cannot fix.
Be honest: opening a wall is construction, and we do not do construction. What cabinetry can do is change how the existing room works — taller uppers, drawers instead of doors, a proper pantry where a broom closet was, a corner solution that opens up the dead corner. Saying what we cannot fix is what makes the rest credible. Storage is decided when the cabinets are ordered, not afterwards →
Split levels and raised ranches.
Short ceiling runs and soffits over the cabinets are standard in these houses. A soffit is the dropped box above the upper cabinets, and it shortens the run of wall a cabinet can use. The options are to build the uppers to stop below the soffit, to remove the soffit if the construction above allows it, or in some cases to run the uppers to the ceiling once the soffit is out. Which one applies depends on what is actually above the cabinets — another reason to measure in the room.

We do not install.
We sell cabinets, we measure, and we deliver them. We do not install them, and we do not arrange anyone who does. You hire your own installer, and your contract is with them. This is deliberate: we have no installer on payroll to keep busy, so we have no reason to steer you toward anyone or to bundle a labor number into your cabinet price. You see what the cabinets cost, you see what the labor costs, and neither number hides inside the other. Read how to check an installer before you pay a deposit →
One note for Yorktown Heights homeowners hiring an installer.
Westchester County requires home improvement contractors to hold a county licence, and the Department of Consumer Protection can confirm one at (914) 995-2155. It takes two minutes to ask. Our guide to hiring an installer explains how, and what a licence does and does not prove →
